Hey there, you kooky kats...
Been working with a new laptop this year, and I'm getting a little fed up with the new WMP. What I LIKE about WMP is it's simple, no-frills interface and the fact that it's a PART of the OS instead of piggybacking off of it the way VLC does (which means better efficiency/less strain on the CPU). But what I DON'T like is the audio performance, PARTICULARLY on the latest (2013) version of WMP (I don't remember the number, but I have the latest one that came with Win8). It sounds A LOT worse than the VLC/V.A.C. combo I've been using (ESPECIALLY on video files), which sounds exceptionally-good so long as your computer has a reasonable amount of power. It's running independently, so often times it's gonna' need twice as much power than WMP (When I play AUDIO files on Foobar w/ the "Wasapi For Foobar" plug-in, it sounds noticeably-better than the same audio file playing on VLC/V.A.C.... V.A.C. stands for Virtual Audio Cable, which is just another method of bypassing the Windows audio demons).
I've tried in the past to upload the ASIO plug-in, but the old WMP from Win 7 wouldn't recognize it for some reason, and the same thing seems to be happening here. Is there a solution (or plug-in) for this, and if so, how do I implement it/apply it?
[And this is unrelated, but I've been having major video trouble on Youtube... The video driver almost always crashes on anything above 480p quality... It's bizarre... But that's another subject, right now, I'm just trying to get proper audio-quality on WMP... Video-quality too, and I want to use WMP for video because it won't strain on high-quality stuff the way VLC does... But there's no point if it's gonna' look and sound like s**t]
