Troubleshooting: 2000A, no right channel.

Just returned home from picking this receiver up on craigslist. Cleaned the wood case, sprayed the knobs down with deoxit and fumbled with them for around 20 minutes to try to get them clean. Hooked it up to my speakers and turntable, put on some Smashing Pumpkins and I hear the most glorious tones start emanating from... The left speaker. Checked the fuses, fumbled with the speaker select a bit since that has some choppiness, changed from bank A to bank B, swapped speaker wires, swapped RCAs, tried aux, tried FM. No go. Can't get the right channel to produce any sound. Futzing with the speaker select dial I CAN get both channels to come in with headphones, but not consistently and the slightest micro-movement of the dial cuts it back to hard left.

The protection light does come on intermittently depending on which buttons I have depressed (Loudness, Reverse, etc).

Does anyone know of any techs in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia (aka, Tidewater, preferably the Peninsula, Between Hampton and Williamsburg)?

The sound I'm getting out of the left speaker is suited exactly to my tastes and matching up perfectly with the speakers I currently have hooked up (Kenwood LS-909). Moreso than the Sony STR-7045 that at this point I have to assume needs a re-cap and tune-up now that I've used something else.

Any seemingly easy fixes I might be overlooking? I have the service manual and a soldering iron (though my soldering skills are almost totally nonexistent).

And now after messing about with the knobs a little more the midtones are hissy/crackly.

Today went from such a high point to such a low point. Guess it's back to the Sony.

1. Check the fuses on the back of the unit between the speaker connections. The fuses are for the speaker/amp protection. This is your only protection for the speakers/amp. Use only 2.5A 125V or 250V inline glass fuses. If you can't find a 2.5A, use a 2A fuse. You can find fuses @ Home Depot or Lowes. Take an old one with you. DO NOT USE SLO-BLO or DELAY Fuses.

2.) Pull the jumpers from the back and replace with regular RCA CABLES. SWAP the LEFT and RIGHT AMP IN so the LEFT preamp output is now going into the RIGHT AMP INPUT. And the RIght OUTPUT to the LEFT Input. Listen for the sound to swap sides. If it does, then your problem is BEFORE the amp. If it stays in the same channel it's in the amp. CLEAN THOROUGHLY the metal jumpers and the RCA Jacks.

Fuses are good, I've cleaned all RCA jacks thoroughly with deoxit and a brass brush plus a little No-Ox-ID A Special as an extra corrosion inhibitor (very thin layer applied and then wiped clean just to give it a microlayer at best). I've tried two sets of stock jumpers and some audioquest RCA jumpers in different configs. I was able to get some sound through the right channel once for a few seconds while fiddling with the speaker selector, but wasn't able to get it to stick. The intermittent protect lamp slowly fading in here and there means it has gone much past my pay grade and I've found a local shop (a shop suggested by a local AKer) to take it to this weekend to get a quote and see what can be done about it.
