troubleshooting my KA-7002

Make sure to build a DBT for testing each section as you go.

I did an extensive restoration on my KA-7002 a while back, and replaced the trouble-prone transistors while I was at it. I think you will find quite a few notorious semiconductors in there.

Hello, I am working on troubleshooting of my KA-7002. When I look at the way the relay wiring, It looks like normally the relay makes contact all the time. So relay will kick in when some thing wrong with the amp?

No, the coil of the relay is turned on (energized) when "everything's right" with the amp.

Hence, it would appear the schematic was drawn with the relay energized.

If your relay is NOT being energized then something is wrong. And I would go back before the contacts of the relay (towards the output devices) and do voltage checks to see is DC is being output from one or both channels.

Hope that helps.

All the DC offset are good. Mine had been wired this way so look like someone had by-passed the relay. I just find a relay of 7002 on sale now and it is wired correctly. It should be normally opened.
