Trying to find pre out - main in (vintage amps)

I was about to buy an old Kenwood KA7100 amp when I discovered it had no input / output for an equalizer. Does anyone have a list of 60 wpc integrated amps that have the proper connections for eq's ? pre out - main in ... is that wrong ? Maybe pre in - main out. Duh

I never get lost - people always tell me where to go.:scratch2:

Less noise is introduced into the system that way.

The tape lops are before the volume control.

All sources are fed "full volume" into the preamplifier and the volume control actually attenuates the signal coming into the preamp to keep it at a reasonable level. If you doubt this, try feeding the output of a CD player directly into a power amp.

By feeding the equalizer the signal before the volume control, it's output (and inherent noise) is actually attenuated once it hits the volume control.

If you feed the output of the eq directly into the power amp, it's getting the noise the eq introduces at it's full volume.

Well I'll be a fargin. I, well ,obviously didn't know that. I would have to say situation solved except for one little bug in my ear (time for a shower) and that is: Will the neat subsonic switch this model has, still work ?

I was confused because I read the OP's question too quickly and didn't catch he was trying to hook up an equalizer. Thought he was trying to find a receiver with the ability to separate the amp/pre amp. My mistake. Now I get it. Thanks for the explanation.

You don't lose anything by employing the tape loop for an EQ...you're simply adding a bit to it.

As far as the subsonic filter, it's an awfully gentle slope (20Hz, 6db/oct, so a simple 1st order filter). But it may well be enough to prevent feedback and reduce the worst of warped records to something that doesn't chew up tons of power by flopping the woofer around uselessly.
 
Echowars ----Would this apply to the 1250 (Pioneer) which employes an adapter switch loop? or is the tape loop STILL recommended for the 1250?
I did read you linked post in this thread and am still wondering.
 
Adapter works the same way as the tape loop, except you don't have to worry about fooling with the tape monitor switch.
