TT Isolation On The Cheap

here is a pic of my tt isolation. Very very black background.

squash balls cut in half
mdf board
squash balls
16" x 16" ceramic tile
partially inflated 12" bicycle tire tube
16" x 16" ceramic tile
squash balls
plinth supported by squash balls
motor supported to level but not contacting main surface or plinth.

none of this cost very much and works incredibly outstanding

other tweaks contributing to the black background are squash balls between stacked components, diy mogami ic's, diy record cleaning machine, Furman power conditioner.

Easy to say. If you heard the incremental improvements, via critical listening as I have, you would have an opinion that is different.
 
actually, any or all of it is yours to do. if you think it's too much, do a lesser amount. it is all an improvement over what you had and is just as effective as very expensive alternatives
 
I've wondered how you keep the deck level with the bike tube.
I picked up a couple of the big ceramic tiles like you have & use them with isopods. Seem to work pretty well.
Alot of folks swear by the squash balls...
 
I keep moving it around until it's level. I use two circle bubble levels. once it's level, it stays level. notice how I have wood posts at the corners of the plinth with studs coming out of each. that is to support the dust cover just above where it would sit on the plinth. no weight on the plinth prevents stressing the balance factors
 
couldn't hurt. I see pics of these tables that cost $10,000 and more, and many are on tall mounds of isolation layers of varying materials. I think it's possible to emulate that on the cheap.
 
I've heard of folks using packing air pillows instead of a bike tire tube. Same idea but still makes it a chore to get and keep level.
 
mine is level and stays that way, and isn't a problem to get setup. seriously. the bike tire is like $12 or so and is very stable if you do it right
