Hi guys, can anyone here tell me if my Marantz 6100 turntable needs oiling or are they permanently sealed. Any help would be fine. Oh...does anyone have a service manual of this unit they would like to share with me? Thanks guys.....

Not familiar with the Marantz TT line-up, but if it's a belt-driven unit, it more than likely has a long post attached to the platter that makes contact with a main bearing. These require lubrication on occasion. Direct-Drive models as far as I know have sealed bearings and don't require lubrication. If the arm has auto-return or some other automatic function, then there may be parts on those assemblies that will require lube.

PB, for a belt-drive, lightly lubricate the bearing where the end of the platters shaft meets the the bottom of it's receptacle that holds it. You may simply make a bead of TT lube on the bottom of the shaft and let is spread around the bearing. Then with the belt still off, put the platter back on and make sure it spins freely and without complaint. If you need lubricant, call Jerry Raskin's Needle Doctor, or there may be folks here that can guide you to other good parts sources.
