TT Repair

I have searched here but didn't see what I was looking for. I live in South Carolina and am need of some repair on my Technics SL-1400. Is there a tread or list of repair places in the US by state? In my experience there is very little audio support here in SC. Any help would be appreciated before I send my TT to California.

I assume you are not willing to try the repair yourself? If you are handy at all, you may be able to do it with the help of this forum, or a video already online.
https://www.kabusa.com/frameset.htm?/ is your best bet (no affiliation) for replacement parts.
EDIT: He only repairs 1200s, but stocks many universal parts.
If you contact KAB (Kevin) and tell him the problem, he can honestly tell you if and how it can be fixed.
Not familiar w/ anyone near you.

That's a pretty basic direct drive turntable, it's going to cost you more to ship it than to find another one on Ebay. Most Technics are bullet-proof and just need a little easy maintenance. I also looked up "vintage stereos south carolina" and a handful of shops popped up.

Even if shipping both ways = $100, the OP would be very hard pressed to find an SL-1400 in good working condition on ebay for less than that...and then would have to pay for shipping (and hope the seller knows how).

xighost, what is the problem with the table?

Don Jones Stereo in Greenville is my go to place. Mark (the primary tech) is a great guy to work with and has a stellar reputation.

I wish I could learn to do it. Time and knowledge are not there for me right now. Part of the problem is I tried to replace the cables... sounds better than the staticy ones there were there but off to me.

This is what I was looking for. When I get a chance I'll look them up and give them a call. I searched on google but apparently I didn't do it right.... Thanks for the responses.
