TU-666 Help

usedto

Lunatic Member
I have a Sansui TU-666 that works fine, but is missing the tuner pulley on the gang. I've spotted one for sale, but it's off a different model. I have photos of both and they look identical. If someone has the outside diameter of a 666 pulley and the shaft diameter, it would be highly appreciated. I wouldn't be surprised if they used the same plastic pulleys on several models.

Thanks in advance.

So I took a chance and went ahead and bought the pulleys I found. They were off of a Sansui receiver that was built from 67-71, and the TU666 was built from 68-73, so there is a CHANCE they used the same pulley on the gang. Comparing the photos, they look the same. I might know someone that has a 666. I'll see if they can open theirs up and measure before I go to the trouble of trying to restring it.

I have my fingers crossed.

a different way to confirm, find/dl service manuals for both, look for the part number on the pulley.
if they match then you'll be more assured they fit and work.

I use every trick in the book to keep these treasures out of the landfill and off the
curbs even if they are layered with cheap beer.

I have a digital copy of the service manual, but it doesn't show the part number (unless I missed it). The new pulley I bought is wrong. The shaft diameter is OK, but the OD is off. That won't do, so I'll just keep looking. I love the round dial, and need it for my AU-505.

Hi usedto,
Afraid I can't help (yet) but have selfsame problem ...opened up a tu666 to find the dial pulley missing. Was about to buy one from a sansui 4000x when I read your post, which model did you try?Is the OD far out?could you increase the OD of the pulley with something wrapped around it like draught excluder?
