CA3000 and BA3000

Thanks!! A few questions left:

What is the difference between the regular and the "A" units?
Are the CA3000 and BA3000 from the same series, and if not, what tuner matches them?
Do the CA3000 and BA3000 sound good? Anyone ever heard them?

Had to ask that question myself a couple of years back. The "non-A" units have a "0db - 10db - 20db" volume drop switch just behind the volume knob. This is separate and independent of the muting flip switch that drops the volume a further 20db.

The "A" units do not have this switch.

Otherwise they appear to be identical.

Yes, and there's also a modification on the inside... I red once... I've forgotten what it was.

Loudspeakers: Rogers BBC ls3/5a
 
The whole idea of seperate components is to pick what you like best sonically. Appearence is important to some, but did you buy it to listen to or just look at ????

Obviously Sansui components made during the same years have matching styling on the faceplates and cases. So the match for a Tu 9900 would be an AU 8800. or AU 9900, or anything else you think looks nice.

Well...they're not even just to look at right now, because they're all staying in their boxes, but they'll be in full working mode once our house remodel is completed.

I have a collection of "stacks", each consisting of tuner-preamp-amp from different years from the 70s and 80s. Examples:

Accuphase - T-100, C-200, P-300
Marantz - 2130, 3650, DC300
SAE - Mk VIB, Mk 1B, Mk XXV
McIntosh - MR78, C28, MC2105
McIntosh - MR80, C33, MC2255

I'm looking for the 1974 Sansui separates to match the TU9900. I don't want an AU9900, even though I now know it matches best. Instead I'm looking for the full separates that match and are of the same design series.

What can I say? I'm a weird collector. :yes:
