Agreed.
My main point is the NOS misinformation.
Similar, but not to the extent with caps.
If tubes had a Gee Cap Review-it would be extremely helpful, with a common sense approach.
Myself-I find out on my own
But reading some of the descriptions over the years usually was of little help.
Most NP Tube reviews are fairly accurate from what I have seen.
The old stuff-not even close.
Most of these old Holy Grails tubes honestly aren't as good as many imply.
If older gear was designed around them-the would be a go too.
But if they are 50-70 years old-maybe not.
I recently listened to a Cit V with modern glass-and NOS.
The NP was clearly the winner-by even the simplest terms.
Most NP are patterned after these NOS-with modern audio preferences/demands in mind.
Such as the lack of blotted mid bass, soft, undynamic highs, honky mids, or complete lack of lower bass response.
Sorry-not trying to be a downer-find out for yourself.
But IMHO don't buy into only NOS glass is worth the effort.
In my experience, most cases is just the opposite-if your looking for decent hifi reproduction.
Tubes can put soul in music.
But that soul doesn't have to include/have the classic Cj/over tubey squishy response.
Eh......
IMHO that's oldfi-@ crappy 70's pressed board vinyl clad furniture- Postum, Sanka etc-avacado and harvest gold, and key parties.
Better off in the retro books....
