I am a member of the Tube Collectors Association. I am also a member of the board. Our President Ludwell Sibley had these archives in his possession for many years for study, as I have time I will post some audio related items. First up is the RCA list of Private Brands that RCA marked on tubes they made for others, on this list from 1966 is Telefunken, notes state that tubes of " all receiving" types be branded with this name and shipped to Curtis Mathes? No other information can be found why this was done No tubes have been seen marked this way. Notes state that "RCA I205A orange ink" to be used so tubes would look odd.

"Very interesting!" said in my best Commander Klink impersonation (Hogan's heroes). During the late 50s and 60s there were a proliferation of new tube types especially for broadcast use and other new electronics. The smaller companies could not develop their own and usually bought from the major brands with their own name painted on.
 
RCA list of private brands was around 340 for each they had spec. sheet that gave them the size of each Logo to be stamped
 
I have noticed similarities in tube structures.
While I always knew (well I was reasonably confident any way. I guess not quite the same thing). I always assumed there weren't more than 10 big players in tube manufacturing back in the day

I never figured RCA made Telefunkens.
The cross reference would be interesting .
Oh FWIW, I never knew there was a tube collectors association :dunno:
 
Here is another odd ball from 1937 The "Philips ONVERKOOPBAAR" marking. This in English means "unsalable" there are many more no one is sure if these were used to mark tubes, we are only sure that the drawings were made

Am I reading this correctly RCA made tubes for Telefunken????
 
RCA made tubes for Curtis Mathes marked "Telefunken" no one knows why. No tubes marked in Orange ink "Telefunken" that are not real Teles have been seen
