I bought a mint looking ADCOM GFT-1A. Works fine and sound's good.

But after I load the station's I like and shut her down I lose the memory for the presat station's. If I leave her running works fine. Is there a battery in a tuner like there is in a computer so it can start up?

On a side note, time caught up with this Tunner. Was hopeing to up grade from my Kenwood KT-57 with the ADCOM GFT-1A. GFT-1A pull's in station's better but sound, well they sound the same. I thought the Kenwood sounded good all the long. I was hopeing for a little better.

There may well be a battery in your tuner. If you are REALLY lucky it will be on the back panel. Otherwise you will have to dig inside.
You may find a lithium button cell in a holder inside, this will be fairly easy.
You may find a lithium cell soldered directly to the main board, a little fiddlier to do and to find a replacement cell.
You may find a NiCad battery soldered to the board. Generally these won't be in an easily replaceable holder.
If you don't find any of these you may have a bad "super-capacitor" this will look like a normal electrolytic but with a much higher value (in the farad region rather than microfarad) These do fail from time to time, rare but it happens. This will be soldered to the board like any other capacitor in there.
Hope this helps

Well of to Dr Hi Fi I go with more junk in tow I go.

Tony thanks for the answer as well. No such look on the back of the tunner and problem is not listed in the trouble shoot section.
