Turning off avatars???

Tonto Yoder

I realize I can turn off avatars by clicking at the bottom of the page for "Printable version" (which I almost always do). Any easier way to do this??????? Personally, I'd enjoy turning them off once, and not having them appear; others must enjoy them, so I'm not suggesting a general change.

I don't find the static avatars annoying, but the animated ones are as obnoxious frankly as having pop-up ads on some of the other websites.

Im with you on the animated ones.....But its a preference thing thats up to each " refugee" ;)

Grumpy,
I'm not suggesting they be eradicated, just wondered if there was an easy way not to see them for those so inclined. Even if the "Show printable version" button was at the TOP of the page,
one could click it and just see the text of messages.

I would bet that its all part of a templete thats not easilly moved. Just to clarify I am not promoting removing the animated avitars I was just saying they are anoying to me.

Tim,
yours never struck me as distracting since the animation is minimal. Anyway, it's no big deal since I can get around the more flamboyant ones by doing the "Printable Version" thing.

Damn, I'm eclectic--an Indian/Eastern/Amish amalgam of influences; surely I qualify for SOME government subsidy!!

If you go to the User CP, and "Edit options" you can make the other users avatars not appear.

Chris,
EXACTLY what I was lookin' for!!!!

Now, I have a slight pinging in the van's engine--kind of a "pooh-tee-winggie--ding-ding" sound every 3/4 second. How do I fix that??? :)

Thanks,
Tonto
