I have recently purchased a Pioneer PL-12d which has an Ortofon FF15e Mk II cartridge which i have plugged into the phono input on my Cambridge Audio A1 amp running into a pair of KEF Cresta 3s and the sound is really soft and really quiet. The volume has to be turned up to max to get a sound out of my turntable and the sound is really soft. I dont know where im gojng wrong so any help would be appreciated

Does your amp even HAVE a dedicated phono input? If it only has line-level inputs, you'll have to get a preamp for your turntable. The turntable by itself won't produce a line-level signal.

Hi,

The A1 amplifier as standard is not fitted with the optional dealer fit phono
stage. As standard the input marked phono is just another line level input.
Contact your dealer, they may or may not have the optional board available.

Otherwise you will need an external device. Search for phono preamplifier.

rgds, sreten.
