This is a project that had my interest for some time, lots of information over at Lencoheaven

Collected the parts over several months and finally started the build a couple of weeks ago, its not completely finished but it’s at the point it can be tested & used.
One can choose a single or multiple speed adjustments, and case selection is up to the individual, my case is just an old reclaimed aluminum box and the wood face is also a scrap piece from another project
The transformers are from https://www.antekinc.com also used an Antekinc transformer for my last EAR clone build, excellent quality and great pricing
Nigels build instructions are excellent, both 240V & 120V or European & North America sections, but weighted a bit towards European standards….
My original intent was to use this with my Thorens TD24 and Garrard 301 and it works great with both but since they both have eddy brakes, the speed control really shines with tables like my my Garrard model Ta, and I’m going to experiment with the Russco Studio Pro, Fairchild 412 and ROK TR 43, (it also adds a speed or two for some tables).
One can control both the voltage and Hertz, and that’s an advantage in overall performance. One can dial in lower wow & flutter numbers by finding just the right voltage/hertz combination, if that’s your thing
My choice was just to use a voltage gauge on the front panel but adding a hertz gauge would probably be more informative. Have boards to build another one so that might be a future project
In the past I’ve used a light bulb wired in series (dim bulb tester) as voltage control, one just has to experiment with bulb wattage to get the desired end voltage results, and that works in a limited capacity.
This device is extremely precise and easy to set, one still has to wait for the table to warm up but then it’s rock solid. Understand there’s other ways of accomplishing the same task, but I’m extremely happy with the outcome….just have to finish the case now
