After two of these turntables with the same problem and reading a lot on the subject I made a tutorial. hope this helps some of you guys who own this TT and have this common problem. I believe this will work for all M series technics with the same issue. I make no claims that this is a good idea or that you won't mess up your turntable.

This fixed one of my SL-M2's. I haven't had a chance to do the other one yet, but fingers crossed!

Yes sorry do turn the tt off. I just had it on to show functionality. Tt was off when I applied the deoxit.
 
Yep.! Incidentally, this is NOT supposed to work, but it does. I was told by someone that these are tactile switches which means they are not "sprayable." I had an issue with both the stop/start button and cue button working intermittently. I thought I was out of luck. The DeOx method as shown above fixed it - been going strong now since 2015.
 
I use D5 for switches. F5 has lube in it for things like faders on mixing boards and G5 is meant to clean and treat gold plated contacts (rca jacks etc)
