Tweeter magnet fall off???

so my right channel bookshelf speaker (wharfdale 10.2) took a tumble off my TV stand, we won’t get into how, but the tweeter was putting out nothing so I took it apart and found the magnet was dislodged laying in the cabinet. It’s a tight fit around the back of the tweeter cylinder and the surround material was still intact so I stuck it back on and it works fine.

Anyone every experience a detached magnet before and have a more technical repair procedure for me? Thanks!

It's actually fairly common with EPI/Epicure and Genesis tweeters. In have had to reglue tweeter and mid range magnets and have read where many others have had the same experience.

You are not alone...

I was working on 4 EPI 8”ers today, magnets unglued on all of them.
It happens.
I use 2 part epoxy 5 minute fast stuff, I try to put it where the magnet meets the basket, I don’t try to put the glue in between the two, that complicates it more than I want, so I lay the glue along the seam of the magnet & basket with the speaker already assembled, mag in position and hand move cone to check for coil rub, of course you can’t move the cone of a tweeter, but woofer yes. I don’t glue all the way around, just enough to keep it on.
Cheers!

epoxy 4 spots across from each other , should be more than sufficient 10-05-2018 2.JPG

Thanks folks. I was hesitant to use any sort of glue because I didn’t want to obstruct the connection between the magnet and cone. It sort of self adhered magnetically. Is the idea to then glue around the outside of the magnet where they meet, keeping the connection between the magnet and come intact?

Hard to tell w/o pics but normally you glue where the magnet touches the basket (the metal speaker frame).
