Tweeter problem with New (Large) Advent Loudspeaker

OK, Hi Folks! I’m not new here, I joined in 2009, but I mostly lurk and search for info (I’ve gained a lot of knowledge from here), and I thank you all! I started this thread because I’ve done a search, and did not come across any topic that covers the particular problem I’m having: This is a strange one! (And please forgive me for the Thread Title, but there seems to be confusion about the name of these Advents from 1975: My literature just calls it The New Advent Loudspeaker, no "large," but it is the updated Large Advent).

I’m restoring a pair of 1975 New Large Advent Loudspeakers, and I have a problem with one of the tweeters. the tweeter is functional, but the lead wires are not conducting from the tinned ends to the lug terminals. I test speakers using a 9-volt battery, and when I run the lead wires from the battery over the surface of the lead wires of the tweeter, I get the static intermittently, and the only response I get is from just after the tinned ends of the leads. I don’t understand why the solder on the ends of the leads is not conducting! I have the lugs removed (for working space), and need to know how to proceed, to get the ends conducting. I don’t want to apply too much heat, but it’s almost as if the lacquer/enamel on the leads is preventing conductivity, yet the solder is on the ends of the leads quite generously. I have attached pictures of the tweeter, with close-ups of the leads. Any suggestions? I’m truly stumped. I’ve never seen a problem like this before! Many thanks in advance for any responses.

those do look like stranded tinsel wire in your pics , are they , or are they solid wire? . I ran by tinsel leads on a woofer that were intermittent , kinda like they weren't conducting inside , they would conduct when held in certain positions . what I did was unsolder from terminal side and spin the tinsel wire one turn and re-solder . haven't had a problem with it since , not sure what was going on , maybe the tinsel lead was just getting loose internally?

Thank you for the prompt response, f0427ea! The wire is strange. I can't tell what it is.It seems to be solid, but it also seems "sectioned," like a worm, with some kind of wrapping. I will try to do that VERY gently. I don't know how fragile the lead wires are, but it IS 45 years old! I really don't want to break it. (I also know that if I'm a little patient, I could get a replacement from eBay, but these are all original).
Thank you so much, again!

John
