Hi all, I have finally obtained a pair of the Walsh tweeters to get my Infinity Monitor II's up and running! Only problem is that one fired up just fine when soldered but the other did not. I was really bummed because I spent $100 on the pair. On further inspection of the one that does not work I noticed that the very thin wire that wraps around the base of it is broken. When I say thin wire, I mean thin as a hair. Any thoughts on what to do? What is the wire called? Where can I get the wire? How hard is it to wrap new wire back on? I am new to this whole vintage speaker thing so any information would be great. I am starting to get in some desperate measures to get a stinking Walsh tweeter working. I have 4 in my possession and only one works.

The wire is likely one of the voice coil leads. The break in the wire is causing a short circuit, causing the tweeter to not work. As far as soldering in a new strand of wire, I will leave that up to some of the people have tried it and done it successfully before. Anyone?
 
By the looks of it, the other 3 that do not work might have the same problem of broken voice coil wires. I have been told by a few people that they might have been "fried." Is that possible or is it more they just happen to break?
 
Typical tweeter voice coil wire will be very thin! Fine as human hair!. What I have do to repair this to get fine stranded wire, break a piece of it down and solder it back to the two open ends. Mind you I did this wearing jewelers glasses! Another way is to unwrap a coil of wire off the voice coil side then use it soldering to the open end back to the terminal point. Good luck!
