Twilight

From last weekend - taken 3 minutes after local sunset deep in the very steep-sided Tye River valley in Central Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Of course sunset times are calculated for flat terrain and are meaningless in the mountains. The sun disappeared behind the ridge above us several hours before official sunset but the sky above still provided good levels of scattered light.

It's nice being able to shoot hand-held well into civil twilight with the new camera. Twilight is no longer the barrier it once was for me. When I got a chance to review the photos I took last weekend on the computer, I was pleasantly surprised that my shots of the stunningly bright Hunter's Moon even came out halfway decent. Saw a great Orionid fireball later that night but had packed up the camera and broken out the wine by then.
