Hi... if I connect a 300 ohm dipole antenna and a 75 ohm coax (Dynalab ST-2) to my tuner, at the same time, will there be any consequences? The tuner is a McIntosh and it has seperate connection posts for 300 and 75 ohm antenna connection. Thank you.

You're not going to gain anything here. If you're listening to one station and antenna "A" is optimized for that station but antenna "B" is not, you're doing worse when summing the two together for reception. (directionally speaking)
Plus, you are impedance matching your antenna to its input and there will be a mismatch. Even if the antennas are the same in every other way including direction.

If you want to use more than one antenna, then switch between the two with an A-B switch but matching up the impedance between the two and using one input only.

Are you experiencing some reception issues?

thanks for the info. I have the 75 ohm coax (ST-2) connected to the receiver/tuner with a "whatchamacallit" that screws onto the coax at the running end of the coax and then connects onto the 75 ohm posts of the receiver/tuner.

The station I am wanting to tune occasionally gets interference.

I have another system with seperate components and the tuner has the screw in connection for the coax plus connectors for the 300 ohm antenna wire.

I was wondering if there is any justification to connect both antennas on one rig.

I believe you have clarified my thinking. One or the other. Thanks.

If the interference is between you and the signal tower, all you'll do is amplify the interference.

If it's bad enough, I'd suggest contacting the station and tell them where you are and what sort of problem you're having. Trust me ... they'll track it down if they get enough complaints.
