Two round prong power cable for stromberg phono?

Hi all, I recovered a Stromberg Carlson 1958 mono phono from the trash. It needs a power cable with two round pins instead of blades. Can someone please advise me where can this cable can be purchased? Thanks for any assistance.

You are dealing with a 220volt device, most likely. 220volt systems use a round prong plug. You can get plug adapters, but that won't settle the different voltage issue.
 
Euro mains plugs may be round, two-pin plugs but that doesn't mean all round, two-pin plugs are Euro mains plugs.

Maybe it ends up being that, dunno, but need the picture to see what's going on.

Not even clear what connection is in question, if it's power cord to wall receptacle or power cord to chassis power inlet. To me it sounds like the latter...but without pictures who knows.

I soldered blade connectors to the other end and it works. I'd like to get another cable as I have an old Sony tape recorder that needs the same connector. Thanks, Don
 
That's just a removable common as rocks power cord, available everywhere. Check thrift stores, I save all of those from junk gear that I scrap at the one I volunteer at. Aka cheater cord, as the missing cord from that unit was likely locked onto back panel of it.

The current incarnation is a C7 connector, although I don't know if the old "cheater cords" have the same 10mm pin spacing. Seems unlikely, though.

Here's a site that carries a whole bunch of them. Most of the cords there that are similar have an approximately 8mm (5/16") spacing. OP should measure the spacing of his plug to be sure. Note that pin measurements are center to center, or left edge to left edge, not just the space in between the pins.

I just compared old cheater cord vs. newer style cords. Same pin spacing, newer cords are for smaller diameter pins. Op could probably find a newer one, heat in hot water to soften plug material & cram it on, will be a tight fit if it works. That's the only physical fit issue, as any new style cords are smaller than old, at least those in my stash. Other option is bypass the pin socket & hardwire a cord.
 
I would be inclined to get a technician to replace the socket in the rear of the device to a modern IEC equivalent. That way I would be reassured that the cords I'm using will be safe. I know it's a modification that takes it away from "original" condition, but I feel safety is important.
 
I wouldn't be too concerned. You'd really need to go out of your way to shock yourself with one of those. This sort of connector was used through the 1980s, until console-style TVs went out of vogue. As long as the insulation isn't cracked, I'd say you'll have no worries.
