Hi all, I was looking on line for a turntable, when I found an interesting new company call U Turn Audio who manufactures the Orbit turntable. The Orbit turntable sounded interesting to me so I thought I would share it here.

There are lots of threads about U-Turn in this forum, including a number of reviews by guys who have purchased one.

You may wish to read these comments for further information.

In any case, a quick perusal of BobB's posts reveal that he is an innocuous newbie. It might have been better if he had studied this forum for a couple of weeks, but evidently he did not.

What options are you looking at to purchase? I recently received my Orbit and am very satisfied with it. Just like anything though, you're only going to be satisfied if it fits the profile of what you're looking for. If you want steak and you get fish, well, that fish probably isn't going to seem so good to you.

You guys are right. I guess I was a newbie poster once myself and need to be more caring and understanding. I will be kinder and try to make everyone feel welcome.

I think I over reacted because I have been the U-turn Orbit route myself and have moved on to other things.

Welcome BobB to AK and as far as the U-Turn Orbit goes you were on the right track if your looking for a new turntable. As other AK members have said the U-Turn Orbit hit the pages of AK about two years ago and there has been a very high number of AK threads/posts re this turntable. IMO the Orbit has set a new benchmark for a capable budget turntable and just about all the reports from AK members who have purchased an Orbit have been very positive. AK members have gone over the Orbit with a fine tooth comb and U-Turn has listened to feedback and made some changes/additions/improvements to an already very good turntable that is a leader in its class. U-Turn is reportedly ramping up production for the expected high number of orders for the end of this year and I highly recommend you place your order.

Are you an U-Turn owner? Opinions? I have a co-worker that I've been selling the idea of the turntable for his teenage son who has an interest in vinyl.

At this stage anyone connected with U-Turn wouldn't need to be plugging the table here on AK with all the positive feedback the Orbit has received from AK members who own one. I like you have another table that meets my needs but I wouldn't hesitate in recommending an Orbit to someone shopping for a table in its price range.

For $179 I don't think a person new to vinyl can go wrong in getting a basic Orbit. It's definitely got the cool factor and look of the new tables coming out that some people are looking for. I have previously been an Orbit owner but sold it.

I have to be completely honest though when I say that my vintage Pioneer PL-510a that I bought for $125 sounded much better and was easier to use. These are all things to think about when introducing someone to vinyl.
