U-Turn Orbit Cart Upgrade?

Hi

I have an U-Turn Orbit SE (Ortofon OM-5e cart) which although great, sounds a little thin when comparing the same tracks to the equivalent digital FLAC version. Rest of my system is REGA Brio-R, REGA DAC, KEF LS50's. (The FLAC files are played from a Synology NAS) So I'm looking for suggestions for Cart upgrades to improve the overall sound.

I see the U-Turn guys now offer a Grado Blue1, and I've seen some comments around Ortofon 2M Red's by folks on the forum, but I don't have experience with either.

Any comments suggestions would be most welcome.

I'm fairly certain you can simply upgrade your stylus to say the OM20, OM30 or OM40 - that should be a substantial upgrade - I'll let others chime in. I run an OM30 and am very happy with it.

I find Ortofon to sound thin in general, they have a definite signature with an emphasis on treble IMO. I would recommend going with another brand like Audio Technica, Grado, etc. Many options.

I have several Ortofons, and like them. I do think the specs indicate they may like a bit more capacitance to tame them.

Hey we upgraded to all sorts of Carts with the Orbit in our Tests. We went from Stanton 680's, to Audio Technica At120e, to the Ortofon KontraPunkt C. the arm is very light, and given the overhang isnt a whole lot , the arm pretty much has very little force when pulling towards the center spindle. Quite a clever and simple design in Geometry yet compensating with mass and physics. would be nice to have an arm elevation mechanism!
