Unable to comprehend this mentality whatsoever- what is your goal?

Guitars, Motorcycles, Bicycles, Audio and Cooking. So. Much. Gear.
Swap guitars for diving and ours are identical.

Now that I have typed that, I should really say the rest are on my list long list. Add wrenching on old cars/trucks and tractors, etc ;)

Just got back into riding (knees cant take the beating of running anymore) and wrenching on bicycles after a 20 yr hiatus.

As I mentioned a few times before your speakers are going to determine what your overall sound of your system is going to be To Quote my Favorite Audio Engineer Edgar Vilchur (The Turntable should never add any sound signature to your system and stay neutral to the overall sound)

I feel that no component should artificially add or subtract significantly from the source — except the tone controls.

But that's just me. The angry old man! ;)

I do not have tone controls on any receiver that works. Only my AV receiver and those are hidden deep in the menus. I just keep it factory settings. I did measure and set the 5.1.2 setup with a decibel meter. I seldom do anything except hit a toggle switch EQ 1 or EQ 2 on my HSU sealed 15 inch pair of subs for music to movies. I will get my SX-1250, my 9090, and my Fisher 400 both of them working and will adjust tone controls with vigor. Bet your ass.

I've had most of my current rig for 18 years. A great (and I appreciate that some of you may see the irony in what I'm about to write, but that's OK) Pioneer Elite AV
I was fortunate enough to hear a million dollar plus system. I’ll never be able to afford that. However, even if I’m happy with the sound of my system, I always am trying to get just a little more.
Even better than a million dollar system, go listen to live music!!!

Been there. Done that. That’s how I knew how good those Von Schweikert Ultra 11’s were.

Live is different. It's more emotionally involving, for better or worse.
That depends on the artist(s). I saw Buddy Guy several times in the late '80's, and he was much better in person than on most of his albums. Same with the Who, who I saw in the mid-70s. On the other hand, although I never saw Led Zeppelin in person, several friends of mine that did see them in concert say that the band was wooden on stage, whereas their albums are electrifying.

I'm inclined to cut him some slack: perhaps it's the tinkering here enjoys more than the listening. If so fair play to him it's his system and his hobby to with what he likes. On my retirement I bought what I considered to be my endgame system. It sounds amazing (to me). However after a life time of tinkering, I'm a bit bereft that there's nothing much to do. I ended up getting a vintage set up I. My workshop that lets me scratch those itches.
