Unbuilt, Unopened Heathkit Value?

I'm a long time lurker but first time poster. I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but there is a Heathkit AR-1219 Receiver, a Heathkit AA-1219, and a matching Heathkit AJ-1219 AM/FM tuner in question. The AA-1219 and AJ-1219 have the original packing tape still in tact but the AR-1219 looks as though it has been opened at some point before getting taped back up. All of the boxes are free of any major dents or evidence of a drop or damage. What would be the value of these items and please specify the currency that you are valuing them in?

Please point me to a more appropriate place to seek help on these if this is wrong as I don't usually navigate the site natively but rather end up here seeking help for potential purchases or repairs via Google search results.

Thanks in advance for your help.

As a starting point, find the price of a cosmetic "10" for each component. Add about 50% for first $100, and about 20% for everything over $100. That should give you a ballpark value. Since they are later heathkit units, there may not be as much of a demand for unbuilt kits as or their earlier tube gear.

So, just to get this straight. Just for a budget number we'll use $300 per unit. For the first two that have for sure been untampered with I would take $300+($50 for the first $100)+($40 for the remaining $200)=$390 for each?

is that correct?

If you are trying to decide how much money to offer the person, you could use average ebay completed sales as a starting point. The seller may not care that the unit isn't built yet. So, why not offer $300 and see what he says?

Yes, Unbuilt complete kits have a premium value, since buyers often love the idea of building themselves (or hoarding and speculating on unbuilt items), but unless someplace like Ebay actually shows you the premium for an unbuilt kit you have to wing it. As noted above, if you are buyer start with high Ebay value for regular units. If you are seller start with the unopened premium value. It will at least get you into the conversation.
