Unexpected New Guitar Day!!!

FloridaSam

I like tacos
I was hitting some pawn shops searching for audio gear yesterday and this 2006 PRS Custom 24 followed me home! I wasn't really in the market for a new guitar but when the deal presents itself I had to jump.

First the good: One piece top!, Frets show little wear, that color!!!

Now the bad: The back has lots of buckle rash and a couple nice chunks taken out. The guitar was in BAD need of a proper set up. The wiggle stick is missing. She's not a 10 :( top but damn if I care, that top still looks amazing. And lastly it has the moon inlays not the birds. I like the moons but understandably the bird necks command more money.

They had this tagged at $1,300.00 which isn't a horrible price. I asked if they could do any better and the manager said to make an offer. I came in with what I thought was a silly low number of $800.00. He said sold!

I'm pretty good at setting up guitars and must say this one came out perfect!! She plays and sounds as nice as she looks.....hence the wear, the good ones tend to get played, a lot.

I used to own a 1990 Custom 24 with all the bells and whistles but sold it in a fit of stupidity in 1998. I'm glad to have another.

Great deal!! Beautiful Sam! I have a 1998 lefty McCarty I bought NOS in the same colors (McCarty Burst) as your PRS.
Mine isn't a 10 top either but I prefer it that way for it's natural bad-ass charm!! :guitar:
A wonderful instrument!!!! Congrats!

We don't need no stinkin' birds :D

Here's a link to my McCarty

now, that's a beauty. I've been fascinated with Paul Smith's guitars since the mid seventies, when a friend had him build him a solid mahogany doubleneck, the first he ever produced. Such fine and beautiful instruments, enjoy.

(sorry, pic link didn't work, one needs to be a member of birdsandmoons forum to access it)

Beautiful! I like to play my guitars without being unduly paranoid about putting a scratch or nick in it. I never buy guitars that are a "10." I'd have been very happy to find a beauty like that which proudly shows a few battle scars. Congrats and enjoy!
