unknown transistor replacement

dear fixers and modders. ive got a nice belles 55 preamp with hardly any info available on her. inside my preamp is a set of 1rfd9120 transistors, and a set of 1rfdx81rr2. apparently there were some unobtanium toshiba transistors in their place before and these were used to make it work. im looking for a smoother replacement, as i am tracking down grainy edges from this preamp. it sounds very nice and clear, just a little harsh, even for a ss preamp. anyways thanks in advance for your time. let me know what you guys think would be a suitable replacement.

ok. makes sense since these are just off the power supply. with no schematic im really taking shots in the dark and all comments or suggestions are appreciated. a group brain storming session. maybe id have better luck with the other transistors obviously in the signal.
 
FYI, there's several members over at DIY Audio who have some experience with this amp. If you don't find what you're looking for here, might try over there in the Solid State forum.
 
nice, and thanks. funny you should chime in as i picked up "excitable boy" today at the used vinyl shop today. totally has the sleeve.
