Unusual question about a Marantz 2235b used as a preamp

Hello, Long time since I've posted here. I use a Marantz 2235b as a preamp going into a Carver M500-t power amp and it just sounds wonderful. However I decided I want a remote for volume, so I bought a Nad C162 preamplifier with a remote to use instead of the Marantz. Works ok but it just doesn't provide the mids and bass (via loudness switch) that the Marantz did. My question.. Is there a way to integrate all three together Marantz - Nad preamp - Power amp together to maintain the Marantz sound but still have a volume control with the NAD? Thanks for any help on connections or if it's possible.

You could connect the pre output of the Marantz into the AUX input of the NAD, adjust the Marantz volume as appropriate and then just leave it. Typically people want to reduce the number of components in the signal chain to the bare minimum, but you can try it and see if you hear any ill effects. An alternative solution would be a parametric EQ connected through one of the tape loops of the NAD, which would give you finer control than just a loudness button.

You could also try connecting the TAPE 1 OUT on the NAD to the AUX on the Marantz, and the TAPE 1 IN on the NAD to the PRE OUT on the Marantz. When you engage tape monitor 1 on the NAD, you'll get the signal processed through the Marantz. This will allow you to continue to the use the NAD's signal selector.

This option is what I decided to try first since the NAD would control sources and volume. I turned the volume on the 2235b to about 10 O'clock position. It works perfectly and now has that warm Marantz sound I have come to love. Thank you for taking the time to help me! I am a happy camper now.
