Well it hasn't been two days since I bought my first turntable, Technics SL-1300MK2, and I'm looking at others. Must be coming down with a bug or something ... But I found locally a SL-1700MK2 for sale for $300Cdn. I don't know what cart and stylus it has but I'm waiting for a reply. My question is should I sell my 1300mk2 less it's shell and cartridge ( V15/4 and RS) and go for the 1700mk2. Would this be a good upgrade? The next upgrade would be in the cart/stylus combo.
Forgot to mention that the 1300mk2 has a broken cue lever and would have to be fixed. 1700mk2 is working fine. Can anyone recognize what type of cartridge it looks like?

Wait till you get the Technics SL-1700 MK II and the cartridge on it before making a decision.

You may want to keep the Shure V15/4 and RS for the new set up. :music:

I'd hang on to those cartridges. They're probably more valuable and harder to find at a reasonable price than most good turntables.
I will definitely hold on to them if I feel the 1700mk2 is an upgrade from the 1300mk2. But back in the day the 1300mk2 was $490 and the 1700mk2 was $350. Auto vs semi auto. I'll hang on to the 1300mk2

Can anyone who has own both tell me in their opinion which one is the better TT. I can't find any comparisons of 1300mk2 vs 1700mk2.

Thank you Drugolf and Bobins08 for you response. I will keep the SL-1300MK2 and enjoy it for awhile. Just have to get the cue lever fix and some deoxit done.
