Upgrading from a CA Azur 340c

Recently my Cambridge Audio CD player has being malfunctioning, it's on a 5 year warranty, so I'll be taking it back. However I'm thinking about replacing altogether as when I dug out a rather ancient Sony CDP 590 as a temporary replacement, I found some aspects of the Sony's sound were better. That sony unit has also broken down now.

Anyway is the current Sony SCD-XE800 likely to give an improvement in sound over the Azur 340c or could it be worse?

The amplifier I'm using is a CA azur 340a and the speakers are CA S30s.

I've got a Cambridge Audio 640 C V2 and it's the best sounding CDP below 600 $ I've ever heard. My next project is to substitute it with a 840. If you could afford a 640, please give it an audition. It's a fantastic sounding CDP!
