Agreed, that's about retail price for the receiver, and unless you're specifically looking for quad, there are better options out there.

Got mine for 80
Id imagine 125-150 at most for a pair

So youd have to really want them guys esp all 4

Funnily enough about 2 weeks after paying $80 i found epi100 for $6
Never listened to the 4x again

I've seen clean pairs go for as high as $400-500.

One's I've heard sounded very smooth and punchy, but not dark. I don't know...they do need to be recapped, pots cleaned and surrounds resealed to hear what they really sound like.

Me too. Still kicking myself for selling my 4X pair a couple of years ago.

EPI's are no doubt great speakers, too.
I've seen unfinished blonde AR4x sell for even higher than that range I had mentioned.

Meh, much as I love NE speakers and AR’s in particular I never thought the 4x was all that great. I’ve owned and restored many of them over the years (Dynaco A25’s too) and I always thought they were pretty good speakers for the reasonable price they used to command but not for what they seem to go for now.
