USB Microscope

Knew that. Use a Shure scope for that. Just wondering how far in you can go with what you offered up here.

Could you show us your setup? How do you hold the cartridge?

Sorry, I already put it away. This scope comes on a stand. I have the cartridge in a headshell and it just sits on its side. Then you can adjust the zoom and position of the scope head with screws. It's pretty convenient. If the cartridge isn't in a headshell you could most likely just lay it on it's side.

This one also has a built in lamp which makes it easy to illuminate the object.

This is about as close as I can get in with my USB unit:

Like TnSilver said, the focus backlash/lack of precision is the killer on the cheap ones- mine was about $50.

My real microscopes are way,way better, but they don't have a digital camera head and it's no fun to try to manipulate a camera over the eyepiece. :)

Here's one that went too long without a good cleaning:

John, How many mega-pixels and max magnification on your USB unit?
Thanks
