Used Speakers under $500?

Rebuilding a system and looking for advice on a few names/models of speakers that I might node around for under $500 - used but nice. I'm handy so a little rework isn't an issue. Will drive with a Mits DA10-DC 100WPC, genres listened to mainly Americana, Rock, Outlaw Country - and loud is good every once in a while. Thanks for reading!

$500 can get you a lot of speaker!

If you like "in your face" party speakers keep an eye out for Cerwin Vega or maybe some JBL L100's.

If you like a more subdued and smooth sound look for vintage Advents, Acoustic Research or KLH.

I would look at Some ADs , heard very good things about them for your priced budget .

There are so many good brands of speakers that the question as written is impossible to answer authoritatively. Instead, see what speakers are available locally to you (or via eBay, Audiogon or Bartertown), then do a little research and/or ask here to see if it's a good speaker and a good value. Looking for a specific brand of speaker on the used market can be an exercise in frustration, even if you live in an area with an active vintage market.

With the ADS recommendations above, I'd also suggest L1090, 1290, and 1590 (if you can find them for that price) along with M12's. FWIW, I've got a pair of M12's (and L520's and L780/2's, and L300c's), and they all have a 'family sound' that is full and smooth. The build quality is very good, too; most have rubber surrounds that don't deteriorate like foam. A couple of the ones I mentioned are 4 ohm rated, so just make sure your amp is happy with that.
