Using a DAC as Preamp hook up straight to a Tube Power Amp?

I plan to buy a DAC with volume control and use it as a preamp hook up to my VTA ST70, like this one or this one.
This would be my dedicated digital system.
Any advices?

Should work fine. 2.5v of output is more than enough to run it to full power. Output impedance is low and its got a volume control. All the things one needs in a source.

I've used a Topping E70 like this, works fine.

I use a Mytek Brooklyn like this. It can be a DAC/preamp or in bypass mode just a DAC.

I have used Benchmark Media DACs in front of many tube amps to great satisfaction.

I've used smart phones and tablets connected to my ST-70.
That's close enough I guess. It worked fine. I use them to stream to several small tube systems I have.

Anyone tried before?

I tried this very thing a few months ago.

Before... Sonos streamer>Wadia DAC> Audio Research tube preamp>Pass or Bedini amp (my choice, just move ic's to one amp or the other). One day I thought... "the Wadia and Pass are fully balanced input to output, Wadia's manual says you can run both balanced and RCA outputs at the same time... why not run a balance cable straight from the DAC to the Pass and the RCA's > Wadia>tube pre>Bedini .

After... I've tried bypassing a preamp before but always liked the sound better using the preamp. This time, it sounds great DAC to Amp. I've left it this way ever since.

I've never tried a DAC as a pre but I have gone straight from a CDP to an amp and was surprised at how good it sounded. I would have my system this way if I didn't need a pre-amp for my other sources.

Right my system consists:
Cheap $200 Laptop > SMSL SU-1 > Chinese 12AX7 Peramp > VTA ST70 > Sansui AS100
And it sounds fantastic to my ears. Will see if it sounds better with this DAC hooking up straight to the ST70.
