Anyone know if I can use one of the JBL MA15 mounting hardware kits to mount an Altec 605b driver? I don't have enough room to use T-Nuts directly behind the woofer frame.
If you're mounting the driver on the front of the baffle, should be no problem although with the weight so far back there is a lot of leverage, so you might do what is done on the 18 inch drivers and double the # of clamps at each of the 4 mounting points.
Aren't most of the Altecs usually mounted on the back of the baffle?

Best to put a cross brace in such that the HF motor section "rests" on it. A small piece of felt ensures that no noise will be produced by the junction. Altec commonly did this with 604 installations, it relieves the basket of much stress. Probably not as critical with a 605 as it's a bit shorter and lighter. But for all the time it takes, i don't mount an Altec duplex without a support under the motors.
