Using Sansui Integrated as amp only?

Okay, dumb question I guess, but if I don't know and I don't ask...
I have a preamp I want to use that I'm going to use Y splitters on the main out so I can run two amp. Amp #1 is a real dedicated amp, so no problem. Amp #2 is really a integrated Sansui AU-G99X. It just has regular line level inputs. Is there a way I can use the Sansui for my second amp without double preamping? If I turn of the Sansui's tone controls will that mean I'm not double preamping? It looks like integrated amps like this one would have been made with like a "by-pass preamp in" input.

It can be done if the Sansui has jumpers dividing the preamp from the amp. You can remove the jumpers and run your interconnects from the preamp to the amp on the Sansui. If there are no jumpers, not easy or possible to do.

You can run your preamp output into an aux input on your integrated amplifier. This way you will have to use both the volume control on your preamp and on the sansui.

Another option is to run your tape output from your preamp to an aux input on the int. amplifier. This way only your sansui will have control over the volume. That's pretty much your only options without pre/main in/outs on the integrated amp.

Guess I need to look for another plain ol amp.If I could find a Sansui B-2102 It would look a lot like the Sansui integrated I have with the cool jumpy meters.

Right, so you're stuck with the options I listed above unless you're tech savvy enough to split the signal in-circuit and somehow mount some rca jacks somewhere or hijack another input. I wouldn't dare do it myself.

Not I either. I guess before I start shelling out money I should try it with what I have, heck it might sound good. I'll wait until Tuesday when a Yamaha eq comes my way and I'll tear it all out and reconfigure again. Something it seems like I do now about twice a week!

That is what I will do. Might as well try it. Unless it hums or imparts some noticeable noise it should be okay. I think.

Guess I should have read the first part of that...lol. What is being discussed, running the preamp into the aux or tape monitor is essentially double preamping. I caution you in that it will create a strong source voltage into the integrated. Your integrated is a preamp, EQ, and amp all in one package. The Aux and tape monitors are simply a preamp-->EQ-->amp path. If you can remove the tone section you remove the EQ part but there is no removing the preamp section from the equation without jumpers on the rear of the amp.

If your looking to biamp I would recommend a second power amplifier. Good excuse to buy another amp. Nice gear by the way!

+1 :thmbsp:

Your AU-G99X is a great sounding integrated unit. And the B2102 (or B2101) with the C2102 (or C2101) has a similar sound but with more power. These newer Sansui models don't get the respect that the older units do but sound better to many.

Enjoy listening :music:
