Using stereo amp and AV receiver

I currently have my sansui g9000db as my main stereo amp with some pioneer cs-510 and soon to be replaced with psb image t6. I am wanting to add a home theater and continue using my sansui and psb as my stereo setup, but i want to have the psb image t6 as the fronts on my home theater system while also having center channel and rears. So how would this work? I want to use home theater with all the psb speakers, but then when i switch to my stereo amp i just want to use the front image t6. Is there an easy way to accomplish this?

Don't know if there is an easier way for you, but I share my main speakers between my AV system and my tube amp with a Niles DPS-1 switch box designed just for that purpose. Recommended.

If you use a HT receiver with preamp outs, you just run its front L/R outs from the preamp out to an input on the amp. Of course, if you're using a separate pre/processor, you can do the same thing. The alternative is some kind of switching arrangement as Schmidlapper suggested.

You need a speaker switch with two amp inputs to use same speakers with the ht receiver as well as the sansui.
Niles svc-4 or something similar.
You can use regular speaker selector as amp selector but be careful not to turn both amp and receiver at the same time.

So say I bought an avr with pre amp outs. Would I connect all speakers to the avr or would I connect all speakers except the fronts which I would connect to the sansui?

I had a NAD HT receiver and an Adcom stereo amp. I was in the same situation, I needed both amps to be able to drive the front speakers and the NAD only to drive the rears and center...

Here's what to do:
Get an amp/speaker selector switch (mine was a Niles Audio, but there are others...) Run the speakers from your stereo amp and your HT Receiver to the switch, then go from the switch to the front speakers. Hook up the HT receiver to the rears and center.

The switch will dictate which amp "talks" to the front speakers.

Yes, your simple solution is to use the fronts always with the Sansui.
You don't need to buy anything else.
HT receiver fronts pre-out to sansui to the fronts.
Do not connect speakers on the HT receiver fronts, just use center and surrounds.

Downside is, you always have to use Sansui for fronts and have to adjust volume level independent of the HT receiver to match center and surrounds' level.
