Utah (?) speakers. Id help please

Snagged these heavy speakers Saturday. Owner bought them new back in the 70's and said they are "Utah" brand. ID tag/paper long gone. I found a little info online but not the same as these.
Cabinets are 25-3/4H x 15w x 14D
Has 7" horn. 4" mid. 10 woofer.

My impression is that they did have nice heavy cabinets, the drivers were so-so and the crossovers were almost non-existant (a couple of caps). Despite all that they are not bad for a garage system, etc. Replace those old caps though.
 
I had a set and with new caps, they were not bad at all. Before, the highs were nonexistent. With the recap, they cam back to life nicely. My stepson is using them in a system I gave him for his dad's house.

Just wondering what Wharfedales you meant. I noticed you have a Sansui 2000a as well, so I thought maybe you had old Wharfies since they go well together, plus that would have been a logical choice for powering those Utahs (What did they introduce the HSC-1's? Mid to late '60's?).
 
i have W60Es. mostly run them on tubes. awaiting installation of some replacement (original) woofers i got from wolverine (thanks again!)
recapped 2000a is in laundry room and non recapped 2000a in garage system.
i'd love to hear W90s some day, which i know you love.
on the hunt for bozaks right now!
 
Exactly my thoughts on those. I picked up a pair a few years back at a GW for $20 I think it was. Very nice cabinets but sound was meh. Pretty much no crossover either.

One of these days I need to rebuild mine and see if they improve sound wise. Pretty cheap to do I would guess. Think there is just 1 cap and 1 resistor?!? Too many other "projects" ahead of that right now though.

They might benefit from a better xover, but properly designing and testing one may be more effort and expense than is warranted by the drivers.
