Vacuum Tubes in movies

Since we're mentioned Star Trek, wasn't there was a scene in Star Trek: Into Darkness where you see a turntable & some tube gear playing in Kirk's apartment?

Wow. Left for a coupla days and this thread has taken a life of its own!

I always thought the Warp Engine core looks like a super-sized EL34. :D

Spock on Star Trek built a contraption with a bunch of antique balloon tubes on a board once....

An AKer has an avatar of Kirk and Spock, with the line of tubes in the foreground. He has Kirk saying "That sounds like crap, Spock."...

Another great one is Francis Ford Coppola's "The Conversation" starring Gene Hackman. Very gear centric flick with tubes playing a prominent role at film's conclusion.

This movie came to mind for me as well. Great film.

who was that that had that funny avatar? random curiosity. once i printed that avatar out and pasted it on my studio door....

It was a mnemonic memory circuit built with 201's and a jacobs ladder .

I just happen to see this episode of Star Trek today and remembered this thread. It is in Season 1 Episode 28 about half way through. Spock was doin some crazy stuff. It was cool. Especially when it went up in smoke finally. Jim asked him "how bad is it?'. Spock replied, "bad". It was great.

In the Hong Kong movie Infernal Affairs, which Scorsese remade as The Departed, they filmed a scene in Hong Kong valve amp manufacturer Audio Space's retail space. Pretty neat.

There is a grey-glass KT66 in some sort of equipment in the Mystery Shack in one ov the Scooby Doo movies. Fairly early into the movie.
cheers,
Douglas

The Outer Limits

Demon With a Glass Hand starring Robert Culp as Trent, the Saviour of Mankind. Those look to be tubes he attaches to his robot hand. Arlene Martel is an office worker and pretty to look at (and get stranded with).
