Valencia 846A internal wiring

What gauge is the internal wiring from N-800 to the two drivers in a 846A?

Is the wire 16 gauge?

Plan to replace the N-800 with a custom crossover and also replace the internal wiring to preserve the original XO and wire "assembly"

Any recommendations on wire upgrades?

Note: this photo is not mine, nor is the Valencia in the photo ;-)

measure a bare conductor to find out. Surprisingly, they aren't that heavy.

We buy heavier gage wire in most cases to connect to the amplifiers.

The gauge of internal wiring of most loudspeakers is not particularly heavy at all. Heavier gauge is not needed for relatively short runs between the speaker input terminals and speaker components.

I'd be surprised if the original wire was thicker than 16ga.

One thing I have convinced myself about, with no scientific backing whatsoever, is that tinned wire often sounds better than bare red copper with this kind of speaker. Maybe it sounds a bit more subdued and relaxed.

I use a lot of cheap Belden from ebay...actually I buy used stuff from a guy in Vegas who stripped it out of an installation! Broken in! he's out of the used tinned cable but this stuff is OK:

I have a roll of the 16ga version.

Also Western Electric AIW wire fits the bill. This is real good sounding wire on horns and looks good.

In general, wire seems to matter a lot less with horn speakers...or maybe I'm just burned out on trick wire. I have much bigger problems to deal with.
