I have a Kenwood KR-1000 "Galaxy Commander" Receiver (aka - Tokyo Skyline) that I'd like a valuation on.
I know, look at eBay completed auctions, but surprisingly there aren't any listed.

It's so ugly that it's beautiful!

Most recently one was selling for €650 in Portugal. That’s a bit high, but I could see someone wanting it badly enough to pay $550-650 for a mint (9/10) one. They are leading the way in the resurgence of the 80’s compu-gear.

I have one and love it want the black version ... 3 silver ones on ebay at $650.0 + today 12/27/203

In my early days of my infatuation with hifi. i stumbled into a pair of carver ALS speakers ;) had no idea about them hooked them up to Kr1000 the galaxy commander, with Pink Floyd Time playing the woofers were moving air my neighbor was freaking out semi loud then with in 90 seconds I hear pop and no sound :(. thought I screwed up the speakers or the commander... turns out the commander shut down and protected its self ..yea !
the ALS speakers had new woofers all eight original replacements. the guy did no know how to solder I redid the wiring bought Carver Sunfire amp. and again was blown away from the ALS speakers sound. After learning all about them,I am so glad the Commander was able to protect itself.
I have Sansui 9090 also and I know I shouldn't compare it to the KR1000... but I think I would part with Sansui 9090 before the Kenwood KR 1000 need to do A/B with the 2 :) but of course I would have to throw in my Sherwood S-9910 and S-110CP into the mix ...maybe this spring ;) will need to figure out which one I like best than what speakers works best ... which speakers ... yeah I know a lot other good stuff out there but I buy what I can mostly midfi I guess at least what most of it is considered here... anyway wanted to let you know the KR1000 is a good buy

Hey Jim, I have a Sansui Z7000X, not TOTL but you can't give it away because it is one of the 80's ugly ducklings:)

Sounds very good butt.... not sure what the Kenwood will fetch.

Will see you at the Fest in April.

I sold the Kenwood a few years back, guy in NJ wanted it and I met his brother locally who brought it down there.
Kinda' cool in it's own way.
