Value of Fisher Chasis X-1000 Integrated console amp

I have an opportunity to buy a Fisher X-1000 Integrated Tube Amp that has been completely rebuilt, caps and tubes for $800. I have provided a few pics. This was removed from a Fisher Console prob Executive III, IV. I have found manuals and plenty of info on Amp itself here at AK. $800 for a completely rebuilt X1000? You're going into a borderline steal or a scroe territory imo. :thumbsup:

If it was properly restored with quality parts, that thing will sound amazing. Can't get more classic than that pieces when it comes to tube integrated. Look at the size of those trannies.

Can you explain the differences between this cheaper one and crazy expensive? I have seen a component x-1000 that seems crazy expensive. But again, this is bare since it was removed from a console.

The face and knobs are in near perfect condition. The jewel is intact along with all chasis lettering.

All the tubes are new Russian made replacements, sovtech maybe? I am not sure of new caps though. Going to audition tommorrow.
 
This X-1000 is the console version of the X-101 stand alone integrated amp, EL84 outputs. It's quite highly regarded.

The other X-1000 that brings the big money has EL34 outputs, it's a physically larger amp too. The biggest and baddest of the Fisher integrated amps, so I'd figure that drives the value somewhat.

Thanks, exactly the information I was looking for. $800 is above my upgrade budget, and finding a classic vintage amp like this had never entered my mind and may be once in lifetime. Just making sure it is money well spent.
 
The EL84 X-1000 is pretty rare (like the other one) and there isn't any price data on eBay that I could find. Any fully restored nice-looking EL84 Fisher stereo integrated is probably worth around $800, so that's not a bad price, assuming the work is done well. If you really want one, go for it. Otherwise restored Fishers do come up fairly often on eBay and on Barter Town here.

This is in pristine condition, plus I get to touch it, turn the knobs, and especially get to hear it! I am getting a real good vibe from the owner of this small vintage shop. He has all the correct answers to the questions I ask, most of which concern functions of the unit. I am staying away from talking value right now.
 
I thought we were talking about EL34 x1000, which are very expensive. None the less, x101 is still a great amp with sweet sound. One thing about console amps is that they're super clean like the one in question. Looking at the pictures closely, one of the can cap is new CE mfg. If the recap was done properly, it's still a good buy.
 
I Pulled the trigger this afternoon, I got the amp for $750 out the door. I listened to it for an hour through Klipsch Heresy's, as I tested all inputs and controls. It is playing right now, combined with Technics SL-1700 w/denon DL-110, Project Tube Box S, Klipsch KG4's, and of course The Fisher. I am extremely pleased, I felt it was a fair deal from a retail store. It is always nice when making a purchase like this to have the abililty to see it, feel it, listen to it. With proper care, this amp should always be worth what I paid for it. I cannot believe the difference in the low end, clean powerful bass, both kick drum and guitar. It is hard to describe all the differences I hear but I think the difference is amazing. I will be happy to answer any questions.

I am going to follow this tread through the rebuild of the same amp in original console.

The previous owner of this amp just happened to be in the store while I was auditioning the amp. He traded in this amp and the klipsch heresy's for a pair of martin logan speakers. He had taken the amp to other tech in town while he owned it for repair and never worked right. The store I bought from did full restore although I found a slight issue with balance pot that I will deal with. The amp sounds fabulous, I had to believe what AKers were saying about the sonic qualities of this amp. They were absolutely right!!
