Value of KLH model 20 plus ?

Thinking of trading some tube stuff for a vintage KLH model 20 plus. The 20 plus is a very rare solid state console style stereo from the late 60's with that mod look. It is three pieces, two speakers and the turntable/amp section all placed on tulip stands (see example pic).

The thing it this unit is missing the tulip stands so would anyone want to venture a value so I can see if this trade would be close to even?

The tulip stands are a big aspect of it's worth as both a nice MCM piece and a KLH vintage unti. As far as the Electronics go, the KLH model 20 stuff is okay, nothing special. I for one would not consider it without the stands.
 
I thought about that and found the Bose tulip stands to be very close in size and looks and they are always on Ebay for around 100 for two.
 
I am thinking of trading the HK Award 50 I have listed in Bartertown for this set. I value that around 600 to 700 because of condition. The guy that has the KLH stuff says it is super nice but I would have to see it in person to verify. If I could get the KLH stuff and score three Bose tulip stands I would be happy with the deal.

But then again I also am considering really nice Raleigh USA Competition bike as well.

I agree with this. The 20's were one of the few vintage speakers that didn't appeal to me, so sonics isn't the reason the set goes for so much, it's collectibility. And without the stands, you don't have the full set.
 
I have a couple of the KLH Model Twenty systems to make into one system. The Plus version is cool to look at, but I don't think it sounds any different than the regular Twenty. I hooked the Twenty speakers up to an amp that could handle the 4 ohms and they did sound nice. If I found the Plus system with the original stands for repair (at a decent price), I'd fix them up for my MCM cottage. But, the prices are way to high for me just to have them as a decorative item.
 
Great unit..nothing compares to that look..have model 20's but not the complete plus (looking for the center receiver and stands). It will only increase in value the further we get away from that unique concept. I think the unit sounds amazing..given the history when it came out..play records from that year to hear how it sounded..it's probably more valued as mid century furniture..but for us..it's that rare merger..this defines mid century and the modern working man's pleasures. So..the bose tulip stands worked fine as replacements? (Are those the bose stands?)
