Value of Knight KN 780 tube Amplifier?

Somebody on that big auction site wants $599 for a KN 780 along with a KN 125M tuner. A local tuner tech tells me the KN 125M is great but I have no interest in the amp. Any opinions on what I can recover from the amp, assuming it is working properly? The output tubes are SCA7 which I think matches the Dynaco ST 70 so it's probably in the 35 WPC range, high for a tube integrated.

Any inputs would be much appreciated! Thanks all...

The tubes are EL34/6CA7's. Looks like Mullard. If the tubes are strong, those are worth a lot of coins by themselves especially if they're xf1's.

I would think about $300+ in fully working condition for the amp itself.

Nothing against the tuner (which looks pretty nice), but that amp is the more desirable of the two pieces (i.e., plenty of resale value in the amp!) -- PP EL34 puts it in some pretty fast company. If both pieces are in good shape, with good tubes, I'd think 600-ish smackers for the pair is very reasonable.

Here's the "B" morph of the KN-125...

EDIT: umm - the KN780's a hybrid... I may have been a little hasty in evaluating its worth :-P

EDIT^2: heh -- and the tuner used the then-newfangled Nuvistor in the front end; it does indeed look pretty nice (and is probably pretty rare)!

Very cool catalog pages, mhardy!

Looks like these suckers are really built well - that amp is almost 40 pounds! and the fact that tuner was more expensive than the amp tells the story I think.

...thank www.alliedcatalogs.com (wonderful site; sister site to www.radioshackcatalogs.com ) -- especially, thank the site owner for putting up the JPGs directly on HTML pages (saves schmucks like me from a lot of catalog scanning!).

Were I the OP, I'd snag, and keep, the amp and the tuner, re-hab and enjoy them... just one opinion, though, of course...

Thanks all! These units do look substantial. I've had the KN 125M on my watch list for a long time and they are rare indeed. The 780 seems rare also; not much in the way of completed sales on the web.

I did pick up a KN 125M. It has not yet been refurbished but is quiet on my local IBOC station from hell, KBAQ Phoenix. Unusual for a tube tuner!
