A local has some for sale. Priced with 2405's and 077's
I'm a bit of a JBL fan. Seems to me these prices may be high but I'd love to hear feedback from this forum. I understand that the 077's have higher resale and apparently there is little difference between the two tweeters.

The seller has either tweeter available, so it's up to the buyer.

Canadian- $900 with 2405's, $1500 with 077's
U.S. $679 with 2405's, $1131 with 077's

What do you think guys?

The US price for 077s seems a little high but not much. I've seen them on eBay in that price range many times. The 2405 price is a steal IMHO. (I'm assuming the speakers are in great shape.)

Pricing questions should go in Dollars and Sense BTW.
 
Those are mine. Whereabouts are you? You're welcome to come over and size them up. Judging by what you see on the net, I'd say they're right there among the rest if not more reasonable considering their condition. Not many in good shape available, hence their value. Everybody parts them out. I don't understand why, they sound superb. I think if they never came with 077s there'd be a lot more functional pairs available. We could have a listen and put them up against my Kappa 9s if you like.

They are the ones on CAM, listed as L65A.

Almost the same; see my links above. Like the same model car with different options, perhaps. But I'm sure they sound the same as each other.

The 4435s seem to have more bass impact* and a somewhat more dynamic sound than the 250s. The 250s maybe have a slightly bigger soundstage and a more 3D sound. I like the fact that I can get the 4435s to play at concert levels with a medium-powered amp (100-200 watts) whereas the 250s seemed to be more power-hungry. I could happily live with either but to my mind, the 4435 offers somewhat more powerful, dynamic, effortless sound.

*I have never before experienced the bass of the 4435s in a full-range speaker.

It's those dual 2234s no doubt. I think you would appreciate the Kappa 9s.
Why didn't they use the 2235 in the 4435? Ultimate low-bottom end, no?
 
I have heard Kappa 9s but they were not to my taste. Perhaps it was the small room they were in. The dipole (?) rear-firing design seemed to create an artificial-sounding rear echo or faux "surround" effect that I found a bit distracting.

The 2234 is lower-mass than the 2235 (no mass ring) so it's more efficient, and plays better in the midrange with less distortion around the 1,000 Hertz crossover point. The low-down woofer cuts off at 100 Hz as I recall, so in combination with the bass/midrange woofer you get sensitivity, low distortion, high maximum output and deep extension; it's hard to beat getting them all.

Hmm. I've yet to hear that effect. I got them without the rear emits working. The drivers are fine but the crossovers need work. I have a bag full of parts to rebuild them but a bit anxious about diving in.

So the 4435 is actually a 3-way. That's a much bigger difference from the 4430 than I thought.

Zonker is right on with his description. The 4435 is actually sort of a 2 1/2 way with 2 woofers covering 2 spectrums with a bit of overlap. Today, some speakers would just use more low end EQ and call it a day. However, there is no substitute for real cubic inches (of air displacement) effortlessly done - dual 15's, stout single or dual 18", have even seen (but not heard) quad 15's and quad 18's built by JBL.
