saw some Vandersteen ones on CL for 200. i have a pair of Snell E IVs right now that aren't being used as they are both in disrepair.
I'd be powering them with either a sansui 8080db or a H/K 660.
Though i liked the Snells when they were functioning (and i will get them fixed), they did have an unnatural sounding ?separation? in the low register - maybe i was doing something wrong, but the lowest notes sounded . . . um, disjointed.
anybody think the vandys would be a significant improvement?
oh, forgot to say that soundstage is the least important criteria in a speaker for me. my listening room isn't suited for ideal placement of the speakers or chair.
and i listen to almost every kind of music. recently not much classical or jazz. but lots of world, folk, old rock and mostly mellow electronic.
