Vandersteen 2ce crossover problem??

Got a Vandersteen 2ce at a good price. Everything seems normal when bi wire but when I only connect to the woofer section, on one of the speaker, you can hear vocal together with low frequency sound. Anybody listening could clearly hear the words from the singer while on the other speaker, all you can hear are low frequency sound. I have emailed Vandersteen and inquire about it but was told that if I bi-wire the speaker and both sounded the same, then I should not be worry about it. According to RV, I’ll be spending more money than what they are worth. Any opinions or suggestions? Anybody more knowledgeable maybe can chime in on what’s wrong with it. Thank you.

I take it you mean that you are hearing the vocal words but without the sparkle
of the mid/tweeter?
The woofer section drives the 8" front woofer and the rear 10" acoustic coupler
my guess is that you are not getting output from the 8" on the side does not have
vocal sound. Either the crossover or woofer problem. Listen very close to the
grille, front and back to determine if the drivers are working.

Have you compared them side to side on the top end and tried the level controls
to determine if the top end is working right - you need to determine the overall
condition in order to decide if they are worth fixing.

Where are you located?
 
I only connected the speaker wire to the woofer section only. Upon doing so, discovered that on one speaker, there’s vocal and low frequency while the other speaker are all low frequency sound. BOTH woofers works with included the ones at the back. My speaker don’t have socks , I can confirm that the 8s and 10s are working. It’s the vocals that’s coming out from the woofer that is bothering me.

Maybe i am confuse but normally should there be vocals together with low frequency? According to RV, I should only be hearing low frequency sound. Pls correct me if
I’m wrong.
 
If your test was of a stereo source, with both speakers playing at once, it may be an invalid test. If so, repeat the test with a mono source.
