I know some folks here have some of the older RtR speakers. It's a brand that has produced very good speakers in the past, including some highly regarded electrostat modules, and OEM production. They went out of business in the 80s (apparently because a retailer refused to pay for a massive order of house brand speakers) and is now used by BIC America for some really bad speaker systems.
Anyway, I grew up with a pair of RtR HPR-12 Magnum floorstanders. I rebuilt the darn things along with the MAC1900 that went with it for my dad as a birthday present a couple years ago. I rebuilt the grills since they were badly decomposed, but in the process lost the badges/emblems. Not a big deal, but I've been on the lookout for a few years.
Suddenly, two weeks ago I ran into a pair of G-10 (they may be G-70, hard to read) at the thrift for $14. They're a smaller bookshelf with a 10" woofer and Philips dome tweeter, vinyl cabinets - and the correct emblems. Cool - finished restoration for Dad.
Then last week I picked up a pair of G-200 - they same line as the ones above, but floorstanders in real wood with a 12" passive radiator - needing surrounds. So I did, then discovered the tweeters were dead and one woofer had VC rub. Cool. I swapped tweeters and a woofer, and now have functional RtRs.
They sound pretty good. They're REALLY crisp on the top end, and that needed taming with the tweeter pot. The bass is solid and full, and tight too. I'm becoming a fan of passive radiator designs. They always seem tighter than the flabby sounding ported speakers I've had. They have really wide/diffuse imaging, and I think the drivers are wired out of phase intentionally to do this.
Anyway, now I'm sure my dad will be ready to strike a deal for these, and I'm sure I'll be willing, since I've got too damned many big freaking speakers creating a quantum singularity in my family room (affectionately called the "speaker room" by the kids).
I'll try to do some pics later.
