Vault inside a House - Estate Sale- Non-Audio

Audio Fan

No real audio to speak of, but I noticed what appears to be a vault setup within this home. At first, I thought I was looking at a jewelry shop off from the house, but realized this was inside. The cases appear to be for jewelry, but perhaps they were for some rare minerals? No idea but still still interesting. Many of us might actually want something like this to house our collections.

Gun room with a 6” thick vault door? I doubt it. Most people with that kind of money aren’t going to waste it on guns.

I know a few people with mega buck gun collections who have rooms like that. People “waste” money to build listening rooms, garages and the like, why not a gun room if that’s their hobby?
Stick a few registered machine guns and collector pieces in there and you’re flying past the $100k mark with ease. May as well have a safe room to store and play with them.

Yep, I saw a house here a couple years back, $2M I think, which is a lot for central MO. Had a walk-in gun room with a vault door and all kinds of shelves and display cabinets. All empty because the original owner had gone bankrupt or something and lost the house. My friend was living in it as sort of a caretaker for the bank. Definitely enough slots in that room to add up to many thousands even if the guns were not top tier collectibles, but some of em probably were.

Those collectors are very few and far between. Plus they probably have a bunker not a safe room. It’s not a “hobby” for the gun guys.

Hey
I've been in 2 of them, not mine of course but wealthier friends . So you would be surprised at what people have their collections housed in. Eric

Most of the gun guys I know aren’t the crazy survivalist type, more of the curator of interesting mechanical things (some of which happen to make noise and holes in things). Especially the MG folks. Not too many off the grid, survivalist types have the means to have a legal collection.
In this case who knows.

That's where he kept the Marantz 10B and 7C, along with a Harman Kardon Citation receiver, crates of Telefunken 12AX7s and some Gold Lion KT88s and a REL Precedent. The H.H. Scott 4310 was in there too, along with a pile of Western Electric 330B tubes.

I guess if I had a ton of money and lived in Tornado Alley I might combine a tornado shelter with storage of valuables, but I don't think of that area as hazardous. Those people had good taste!

Must be a room to hold all those Hope Diamonds I donated to Goodwill every year to keep my taxes owed manageable.
